Will parking mode drain my battery?
The hardwire kit has a low-voltage cutoff that stops the camera drawing from your battery at a set threshold — and it is in the box, not sold separately. That limits the drain, though battery age and cold still matter.
Can it actually read a plate at night?
A Sony STARVIS sensor sits on the front lens. There is real night footage on the product page — judge it yourself rather than take our word for it.
Will it survive an Arizona summer?
It has no battery to swell. A supercapacitor holds the charge and keeps working from −31°F to +167°F.
Which memory card do I need?
None — a 64GB high-endurance card is included, rated for the constant rewriting a dash cam does. Ordinary cards are not.
How do I get a clip off it?
The LYNX app connects over the camera's own Wi-Fi. Pull the clip to your phone at the roadside, before anyone drives off.
Is there a monthly fee?
No. There is no subscription and there never will be. Cloud features on a dash cam are often sold as a paid monthly plan. Everything the LYNX does is included in the price you pay once.
Do I have to pay someone to fit it?
For the camera, no — adhesive mount, 12V socket, about 10 minutes. The hardwire kit is the exception: it wires into your fuse box to run 24-hour parking mode. Install it yourself with the instructions, or use an auto-electrician for an under-an-hour installation. The kit is included either way.
Is it legal to record my passengers?
Video generally is. Audio is where it varies — roughly a dozen states require everyone in a conversation to consent to being recorded, according to the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press. The cabin microphone can be switched off. Check the rules where you drive before you rely on the audio.
How fast will it arrive?
Most orders arrive within 3 to 5 business days, with tracking. Yours leaves our US warehouse within 2 business days of you placing it. Alaska, Hawaii and US territories take longer.
What if it breaks?
18-Month Platinum Guardian Protection, with no registration form to fill in. Replacements ship from our US warehouse, not from overseas.
What if I change my mind?
You have 30 days from delivery, and the clock stops the day you email us — not the day the parcel goes back. Send us your order number and a short video of the camera and everything that came with it, so we can check it over before it travels. We come back with confirmation and the address, usually within a few days — please wait for that email before sending anything. The unit can be installed and used — it just needs to come back complete, with the original box and every accessory. Returns are free: there is no restocking fee, and we refund your return postage together with your refund. If it arrives faulty, that is different: tell us within 7 days with a short video showing the fault, and we replace it at our cost — send it back with tracking, keep the postage receipt, and we refund the postage alongside the replacement.
